Growing up I used to love watching the Tour de France. It was a sporting event that had a recurring role in every summer when I was young. I remember having a huge appreciation for the essence of the sport, a fusion of man and machine, over coming the physical and mental limitations posed by the human body along roads at unbelievable speeds. I remember fondly going to watch the riders down in Stillorgan when the race came to Ireland in 1998 and being in awe of having the chance to watch it live. It wasn’t soon after this that bug caught me and motivated me to pursue something special. I may have only been a child, but I turned to my mom and said, “one day mom, I’m going to have just as many Tour de France medals as Lance Armstrong”…….and you know what?…….now I do.
Follow your dreams kids.
